Or maybe that should be family pests ! Dogs have featured prominently in family life - you'll meet Tex, Gyp, Mandy, Bonny, Jack and others here - as well as the odd tortoise, rabbit, budgies and an escaped monkey. Mr and Mrs Brown, who lived next door to Min and Walt at 103 Naunton Crescent, also owned a pet monkey. One day it escaped, terrorising the neighbours - I have a vivid memory of it, legs and arms flailing at one of the bedroom windows trying to get in. I don't recall what happened to it after it was eventually recaptured !

Gyp was the family dog at 105 Naunton Crescent in the 1950s - although I'm not quite sure what 'make' it was . . .

Sally the Border Collie lived at No.103 with the Brown's and their monkey - a young Richard Emerson is thinking I might have one of those some day . . .
Mandy the Pembroke Welsh Corgi with Bob and Richard around 1964. Sadly she developed a quite vicious temperament after getting out and having pups, and eventually had to be put down.
Lady was a complete contrast - a very placid and friendly Jack Russell Terrier that would turn her head to the wall and sulk if she was told off !
Jubilant Rhapsody of Stow - or Bonny as we all knew her - has that resigned look dogs often have when putting up with human's sense of humour !
Poppet was another Pembroke Corgi belonging to Ken and Meryl Winters, long standing friends of Peggy and Bob, enjoying many family days out together. Howard and Jennie Winters are pictured with Poppet at Cranham on a summer family picnic.

Jack - Richard and Lori's much missed Border Collie
